Vejigante Pupet (In Progress)

Jim Henson style puppet of a traditional Puerto Rican Vejigante. A vejigante is a colorful 'demon' that dances at parades and dates back to 12th century Spain. A vejigante mask traditionally made out of coconuts or paper-mache, and performers wear lose full-body jumpsuit. This design incorporates traditional elements like horns, dots, and jester-like clothing, while softening the design to make a more kid-friendly and approachable character.

Made in collaboration with Aram Sifuentes. 

Skirt design inspired by the "Ni Una Mas, Ni Una Menos" movenent in Latin America. This movement asks for the end of female-targeted violence and femicide. 

Overalls designed with versatility in mind. The banners are removable and interchangeable.Banner made with appliqué technique.
